Camp Sunfish

Camp Sunfish Programs

A typical Camp Sunfish day at camp begins at 10am with a brief introduction to learn every child's name, distribute life jackets, and run through the Camp Sunfish safety guidelines. We then break into small groups and hop aboard the Camp Sunfish pontoon boats rigged and ready for a morning of fishing. Each child is given their own fishing pole, taught how to bait the hook, cast out the line, patiently watch the bobber, and reel in their very own sunfish. We make sure each child experiences the thrill of catching a fish even if it's their very first time fishing.

Following the tasty lunch at noon, we walk back down to the lake to continue our fun, laughter, and joy on the water. The children swim, play in the lake, skim atop the water on an inner tube behind the Crystal Pierz Marine speedboat, take fast, bumpy rides on the Polaris watercraft, and adventure in our canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. Every child has the opportunity to experience all these activities in an environment that is safe, fun, and supportive. Safety is vitally important to us at Camp Sunfish so we ensure that a certified lifeguard carefully oversees our fun.

At about 5pm, we finish our water-based activities for the day, dry off, and all head inside for a delicious dinner. The Camp Sunfish day is topped off around the campfire where we all cook s'mores, share our favorite memories, sing, tell stories, and plan the next outing to Camp Sunfish. By 6:30pm, the smiling, satisfied children are ready for a sleepy ride home.

Throughout the entire Camp Sunfish day, each child is surrounded with love, encouragement, respect, guidance, patience, and laughter. Many children that attend our camps have never before fished, ridden in a boat, or experienced all the fun available on a lake. We at Camp Sunfish hope to give each child a heart bursting full of positive memories that will keep them smiling for years to come.
